Thank you to Clark Conservation District for taking SCC commission members, staff, and partners on a wonderful tour of their district last week!
Clark CD took us to see several different projects around their district, including:
A Riparian Plant Propagation Program holding site for plants that will be used in streamside restoration projects. More than 100 high school student volunteers have helped pot these plants for distribution to restoration sites, giving students experience in restoration work.
A riparian buffer composed of edible species like salmonberries, red flower currants, and thimbleberries, along a salmon-bearing creek.
A 6,000-cubic-foot waste storage facility. These waste storage facilities are expensive to build, but with cost-sharing through NRCS ($67K) and Clark Conservation District ($89K), the landowner did not pay anything. Manure collected in the facility will go to a large farm for fertilizer.
Incredible work, Clark Conservation District! Thank you so much for showing us just a few of the amazing projects happening in your region.
